What are we on about at Willows?

Great question! Jesus himself tells the church at its very beginning what he hopes for it to do:

18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

So there we have it, we are to make disciples of all nations as we go. This is our mission. Everything we do at Willows should be toward this end alone. And we have the comfort that as we make disciples Jesus himself will be with us to the very end of the age. We are not alone in this!

How do we make disciples? There are  two things Jesus stresses here. Firstly we’re to bring people into the kingdom (baptizing is for welcoming people in). We do this through the clear proclamation of the gospel. Secondly we’re to nurture believers to maturity in Christ (teaching them to obey everything He has commanded). This is a life long process.

This is what we’re trying to do at Willows, and we would love you to join us in this work.
